Puppies | February 2022

Two puppies were placed and six were held back for upcoming working dog slots. Grit, Gunny and Gibbs all look promising but Gunner and Gavin are looking more like pets. I look for a dog with ball drive, solid in all environments and Gunner and Gavin just kind of look at me when I throw something and look like they’re saying Huh? They could be up for sale to the right family in the near future. They were born 2/27/2022, are all black (Gunner has some white on his chest) are micro chipped, are up to date on vaccinations, and are registered with AKC.  They are “limited registration” which means any puppies they sire cannot be registered.  If you do hips/elbows and get at least fair and normal, I will be happy to change the registration to full.  The price will probably be somewhere close to $1,500.00.

It either requires an exceptional dog or an exceptional handler to make a good working dog team. There are so many reasons that not every puppy makes it. If the dog shows any apprehension for shiny or slippery floors, open stairs, elevators, heavy machinery or even people they get released from training. This is not to say that they don’t make great pets, in fact, they often turn out to be exceptional pets.

Here are several photos of puppies that are not working dogs but are loyal companions, superb door bells, solid emotional support animals and great baby sitters. I place far more pets than working dogs and these are representative of the puppies that were chosen for a different career path.

All of the Ritter/Peyton pups have gone to their new homes. Included in the photo slide are photos of the two males I kept back. I breed for drive not color but I have to admit that I’m partial to the dark sables. This breeding will have to be repeated soon. Thanks to all the new owners!
